Terms of Service

The service
Watermark generates uniquely marked copies of documents you upload and, when asked, analyses an artifact to identify which copy it came from. We provide identification signals for your own decision-making; we do not warrant that any result constitutes legal proof.
Your account
Your account is your phone number, and anyone who can receive its messages can sign in as you. Keep control of the number, and tell us before you give it up — a number you no longer hold is an account we cannot return to you, because there is no password or email to fall back on.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the recipient lists you provide. The Free plan marks a fixed number of copies each calendar month, counted per marked copy — one recipient, one copy — and the count resets on the 1st rather than rolling over. Pro is not metered. The numbers are on the pricing page.
Responsible use
Watermark is for documents you own and are entitled to distribute. It is not a surveillance tool. You may not use it to mark material you have no rights to, to track individuals outside a legitimate confidentiality interest, or in violation of applicable law. We may suspend accounts that breach this section.
Liability
The service is provided as-is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in advance. Questions go to hello@watermark.cx.
